Mamiya generally always was cheaper than Contax but these days it has brighter future. It has better viewfinder than both Contax and Mamiya, faster AF but it is more like modern DSLR - it is much more electronic than COntax, has different system of controls, it will (probably) not be able to work with 3rd party glass as Contax and Mamiya can (say you can use Pentacon 6 east german Zeiss glass). The major concern these days is that Kyocera practically abandoned Contax 645 system, there is no development at all, there is no new dedicated digital backs for it on horizon, Mamiya backs will not fit Contax. Mamiya had some little problems with film flattness in backs, but generally it is well comparable to Contax and if you have Mamiya you'll be probably OK.

More rigid platform, plus ergonomically I think it is the best camera ever built. Speaking about Mamiya system it is comparable to Contax but with some litte differencies. you can check Ebay for Contax and Mamiya glass prices and you'll see for yourself what is what. The lenses are interchangeable (of course), and the film back can be. Mamiya glass is OK but not moe than that, typically for portraiture it does matter that much, for landscapes and product work it does matter. The beauty of a medium format camera like the Contax 645 is that it is completely modular. Optically Zeiss glass cutted by Kyocera is superb end of story. Here are the 645 cameras I use / have used: Contax 645 Fuji GS645 (here) Mamiya 645 1000S Mamiya 645 Super Fuji GA645 (x2) Hasselblad H3D-31 + Hasselblad H 645 Film Back Hasselblad 501C/ 500CM/ Hasselblad SWC/M + A16 Hasselblad 645 back 7. All systems do have their minuses and pluses. Well, has countless discussions of same sort. I had a chance to try both systems plus H1.
